belongs
to Lee Ann Womack, I just altered the words a little. Please don't sue.

He held the note, crumbled in a ball tightly in his hand. He refused
to
tell her what it said, despite her nagging.
"Mulder, I swear to God, if you don't tell me what that note says I'm
going to leave right now." he shook his head. No way in hell was he
going to be the one to carry out the final message.
"Their taking you out of the feild," he let it slip. He couldn't lie to
her, not after all they'd been through. No, today he told her the whole
truth.
Long, silent minutes passed before she answered, "Oh," her voice was
barely a whisper, but it's impact on Mulder was bigger than anything
imaginable. One word, as if she knew it was coming, but didn't care. It
pained him to hear this. After all they'd been through, she didn't
care.
"Scully, I'm so sorry."
"I'm fine Mulder."
"God-dammit. Scully I told you the truth. You owe it to me to tell me.
You're not fine, they took you out of the feild because you're not fine.
Don't lie to me Dana. How will I ever know what you're feeling.
How
will I ever know what to do? I want to help you Scully. I need to help
you. If you simply refuse to tell me. You come at me with that lame
ass, "I'm
fine, but I know you're not. What's going on inside of you? Are you
lonely, sad, scared? What? You're dying Dana. How can you know that
you're dying and say you're fine? Have a little faith in me. What are
you so scared of? Baby can't you see, you've got to talk to me. It'll
save you Dana."
"Stop calling me Dana!"
"No Dana. I'm not going to call you Scully. You're too important to
call Scully. How can I ever know how to help you? How can I ever know
what to say? Every time your heart is hurting. You turn from me and walk
away. Don't tell me you're fine. You don't have to lie. Lying won't
you anywhere in life."
"Mulder, face it, I'm dying."
"No Dana. You're going to live. You're not going to give up like that,
I won't let you. So what if they took you out of the feild. You're
still the only partner that will ever work with Fox Mulder on the
X-Files. They can't take that away from you, or me." He crossed the
room and stood above her. Invading her personal space, "Look into my
eyes." she looked up at him, her eyes tearing. He continued, "There's
nothing here but love for you. I'll always love you. You don't have
feel alone. Let me share the load. There's nothing more I'd rather do."
"You don't love me."
"Dana, you don't have to love me back, but I do love you. Don't deny
that."
"That's the problem Mulder, I do love you. I can't die and leave you
here."
"So let me love you. Let me hold you in my arms. I'm the one you can
always turn to. I'm the one who will stand by your side. I won't give
up on you until the day that you die. Dana, you're not going to die for
a long time. I promise." She stood up, tears in her eyes and gave him
a hug. They didn't say another word. They just held each other in a
long silent embrance.
When it came to the point where she usually turned away, she decided
that,
this time, she could hold on, perhaps, just a little bit longer.
IT ALL ENDS RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
